Our routine seems to be, leave for orphanage at 11:15, get to orphanage by 12:00, visit with Vladik until 1:00, he goes to eat and we leave orphanage and go eat, come back at 2:00 and hang out with Vladik until 4:00, then come back to apartment. Since Vladik is about to be adopted they are very lax in letting him out of class to hang out with us. Things we do with Vladik: play Uno, play War, play solitaire on the laptop, play on the iPod touch, practice English with the English/Russian book I brought, watch Vladik eat all the treats we bring him (his tummy is a bottomless pit!). So, outside of 11:15 - 5:00, our day is pretty free. And there are no mindless (english) tv shows to pass the time... I am reading and Keith is playing computer games but even that gets boring. We have already walked through the two malls close to us twice each. So I have found other things to occupy my mind... like trying to figure out a possible explanantion for the endless noise we hear from our upstairs neighbors. We are staying in a apartment that is no more than 700 square feet and so we assume the one right above us is just the same floorplan as ours but there are easily 4 people living there and we believe 2 of them are children. So here is what I have come up with, feel free to add to my list:
A. The children are homeschooled in the montessori method (where they get to choose what they learn) and their favorite class is indoor PE.
B. They are training for the New York Marathon... in 700 square feet.
C. They are choreographers for a local high school marching band and it is to cold to develop their routine outside.
D. They are the grape stompers for a local wine vineyard.
E. They are practicing to try out for the Harlem Globe Trotters.
F. They are baby elephant smugglers.
G. They hate us.
H. ???
H. They are practicing for the national championship step off competition!
ReplyDeleteGlad things are going well. I hate that we keep missing each other online! Do you have to go back to Kiev at some point for more official stuff?
Welcome to Groundhog Day!! Where you have the same day over and over again.
